Guest solius symbiosus

Usually I don't pick up Bryzoa. They are incredibly difficult, or impossible, to identify without a thin section, but this is one that caught my eye.

I saw the top of the colony in a rock that was about 0.2m across. I brought it home and prepared it with a kilo ar two of HCl and this is what I found.

It is from the Tyrone Lm. in Woodford Co. Ky. The Tyrone is a siliceous micrite(clayey carbonate).

An incredible tiny world lurks out there.

Can't imagine how difficult it must be to work with something that small.
