Hoppin Hill Reservoir, N. Attleborto Ma

Howdy! My name is Bretton. I'm a Wampanoag Native from Massachusetts... But that isn't important. I have always been interested in Fossil Hunting,but only recently began checking out localities. Hoppin Hill Reservoir was my first trip, and I think it was successful... But I was wondering if I could have that success confirmed? About 6 hours cracking red shale open, I found these... What are they? Possibly amphibian?

Also, any tips on where to look, what to look for, and other localities would be great! Happy hunting!

I do have close-ups, but it only makes it apparent that my camera is overdue for an upgrade here they are, anyway.

According to THIS WEBSITE, ... Hoppin Hill Reservoir area exposes lower Cambrian strata - shells and trilobites - no amphibians.

The Items I have circled are possibly something, but the pics are much too blurry to make anything out. The dark spots look like mineral staining.

Really? It's well known by locals that amphibian remains and tracks can be found here.One of the oldest and best preserved bugs has been found here, too. According to an old thread, on this forum, too. What could my finds be?

Possibly shells or trilobites.

The amphibian tracks I have heard about were all found at the Mass-Lite quarry, which no longer allows fossil collecting.

I have heard of some other sites in North Attleboro, but they were carboniferous in age, and not at the reservoir - and mostly plants were found there.

Thanks! If they happen to be plants or triobites, I am okay with that. I have seen tracks there myself, but someone had gotten to them before me... And that was more so in a hidden grotto in the woods by Hoppin Hill.

Any other opinions would be great. Or tips to other localities.

Besides the website I linked to, there is this PDF. Some of the information is old, however, and you need to do research to see if you can access the localities any longer.

Some may have disappeared, grown over, or been built over or whatnot.

I have that PDF on my kindle. I've checked some places out, but being that it's winter, there's little I can actually do until the thaw... I'm counting the days. Are you local, Tim! If sdo, I'd love to tag along on an adventure and learn more!

I'm in Central Connecticut. I probably won't be doing any fossiling until the end of March, weather permitting.

I often dive in the Beluga Whale tank in Mystic Aquarium on Saturdays. Connecticut is not what I consider a long travel distance. I'd love to tag along. I will keep in touch. Thanks!
