Strange indentations from Turners Falls, Ma

I went to Turners Falls, Massachusetts hoping to find fish, or trace fossils (and maybe dinosaur trace). Not sure I had much luck... But I did find these. Could they be fossils?

What is interesting with this one...

...is that the pattern occurs on successive layers, in the same directional orientation.

As they are not consistent with ripple marks, it suggests to me that they may be post-depositional deformations.

Thanks! I'll have to go back in a few weeks in warmer weather and the days are longer!

1,2,and 3 looks like imprints of tree bark. I've seen similar tree bark imprints from Connecticut.

could #4 be osteoderm impression of phytosaur scute? 1 and 3 look like "bark" impressions. 2 looks like ripple marks

(keep in mind all guesses)

Just curious, Plax. What makes you think #4 is a Phytosaur impression?

Thanks for posting your finds. I can't help with identification but they do look interesting, and you must be close to a productive area. Good luck on your next trip out there. I'll have to try to get there soon if I can.

Start the day with a smile and get it over with.
