sweeneyb
I am getting ready to go to a quarry this Friday (Belgrade Quarry in Maysville, NC) and was wondering what tools I should bring with me. I have a backpack, bug spray, hard hat, hammer, chisel, rake, water, gloves, steel toed boots, and a container with tissue paper to store fragile finds. Old Camera bag Sun screen Hand Lotion Picks Brushes Glue & super glue Containers/bags water asprin safety glasses hand lenses pencils w/paper ruler camera multi-tool hammer Last but not least TP For one species to mourn the death of another is a new thing under the sun. -Aldo Leopold
MikeD
All good ideas. Definitely knee pads as bigjohn said. I also take aluminum foil to loosely wrap delicate finds in and pill bottles. bowkill has a nice kit. I also get those plastic Plano boxes at Walmart in the fishing department and the bigger shoe box and the next size or two up with latchable lids. When empty they stack and are good for quickly keeping finds from different areas (on the same trip) separated.

Ramo
It seems I often have one or all of my kids with me, and it's a good tool to let them dig with, without hurting themselves too bad. It seems that for some reason kids just like to play in the dirt! For one species to mourn the death of another is a new thing under the sun. -Aldo Leopold
