2.25 " Carcharodontosaurus Tooth Red Flag

Recommended Posts

Just posted on our favorite auction site is a:

2.25 inch CARCHARODONTOSAURUS Dinosaur tooth, with root.

Here we have a tooth that has strong indications that the root has either been heavily restored or completely fabricated. I tend to lean toward the latter. The tooth is only 1 inch.

The sellers description includes the following:

"Like most fossilized dinosaur teeth, this tooth shows some repair or restoration work done on it."

I share this and the previous Spinosaurus post has good examples of Moroccan artwork that can fool or mislead novice collectors.

oh wow, that "root" is rough.

Would this fossil be salvagable? Say...taking the "root" off?
