Where to hunt for fossils near Lago Vista-Austin Area?

Recommended Posts

So I'm probably going to be around this area soon and I was wondering if there were any good spots around here to look for some different specimens. Also, what would I be looking for in that area? I'm not sure of the time period the rocks are down that way.
Thanks for the help!

Glen Rose is one of the Lower Cretaceous formations exposed at the surface near Lago Vista.  I've seen some Loriolia echinoids from that area, and where you find them you'll probably bump into some bivalve and gastropod steinkerns as well.  I'd suggest pulling up a geo map and cross referencing to current exposures in the Glen Rose outcrop area.
