As I mentioned in my last post, the Cincinnati Dry Dredgers now have a members blog to record our fossil hunting trips. Last time, I blogged about the fossils in the Ordovician tri-state area (Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana), and this time I start the first of a two-part series about the Triassic fossils of the Solite Quarry. Read about our favorite Triassic Lagerstätte here.

Very cool blog entry, ScarpedCliff!

Thanks for posting it - great to see some more Triassic Newark Supergroup stuff here.

I was there a few years ago... I heard that the quarry recently dug through this very layer and made it not so convenient... even impossible to collect.

What I've heard and seen, that is an amazing site. It certainly is a privilege to visit there and help with the collection. Curious how they (VNHM) prep their specimens. I have a number of Triassic coelacanth fossils from New Jersey that require prepping to fully expose.
