Help Me ID These Fossils!

Recommended Posts

califossilhunter

Found layers of closely packed calcium-carbonate shells near the Los Padres Wilderness in Ojai.

Here's what I know about the area:

It is part of Eocene-Oligocene age conglomerate from the TopaTopa Mountains.

I think they are mussels, but I am not sure how to ID them. Any help is appreciated!

Additionally, any advice on how to properly prepare and clean them would be helpful

Thanks!

I agree. Oyster. I'll leave the identification of the species to the experts.
