KansasFossilFinder
I need help identifying these two trilobites. I am pretty confident it is either Ameura or Ditomopyge but they look so similar and I cannot tell which one it is. It was found in Overland Park Kansas Pennsylvanian Period. Also those fossils are not together if you can't tell they were separately but in the same formation. Fossildude19
I think the pygidium is from Ameura sp. - looking at this website, it looks more narrow and longer that Ditomopyge. Not sure on the cephalon, however. Regards. Missourian
Yes, the pygidium of Ameura is longer than wider. Also, the glabella is wider between the eyes than at the front. Plus, Ditomopyge seems to be quite rare around KC. 1 Context is critical.
