lissa318
It is dino bone. It can be multi colored and often referred to as gem dino bone. Very pretty.
tmaier
Ah, yeah, I'm not a bone guy, but looking up "bone histology" lead me to this site with some photos of Haversian canals, and maybe that is it? http://courseweb.edteched.uottawa.ca/medicine-histology/english/Musculoskeletal/default.htm
caldigger
Tmaier, you live in Florida (land of bones) and you're not a bone guy???!!! You can feel free to send all those pesky bones that seem to get in your way to me, I have no problem with them.
tmaier
I have boxes full of bones lying around, but I've never really gotten into study of verts because I had a 40 year head start in studying inverts. I think nature went wrong when bones were invented. Way too many complex moving parts. Inverts are obviously the superior life form.
lissa318
Here's some terrible pics of one of mine that is considered somewhat gemmy db... Not close to as much as PRK's though. All from the same cut of bone and there is red, yellow and purple. The white ones are crystal filled. Other than those areas it is fully agatized.
