Peace River Florida, Unknown Mammal Tooth

Bone Daddy

Recommended Posts

Here is another oddball mammal tooth I found in the Peace River (Florida, Bone Valley member, Hawthorn group).

It is broken, but the root appears to be intact. I am having trouble ID'ing this one. Any ideas what it might be?

Thanks in advance!

:)

Well, it's an incisor, but beyond that I don't know.

I've found a couple like that over the years too. Tapir sounds reasonable as John said, I also thought maybe cow/bison or deer as well. Probably a few others out there they could fit as well. Good luck :)

Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there!

Thanks Gang!

It looked broken to me, so that shows what I know and how much I still have to learn.

I seem to be lucky at finding teeth. Every time I go out, I find something like this in my sifter. :)
