USA Fossil Exchange Group on Facebook

Recommended Posts

Hi Fossil Folks,

Check out the new group on Facebook for the sale and exchange of USA fossils. This group is tightly moderated to keep out spam and scammers.

I had forgotten that I posted this. That group is now defunct and this thread can be deleted if necessary.

The group never really took off. On top of that, Facebook's restrictive algorithms did not allow me sufficient control over the content of the group, so I did not see any benefit in hosting it. After some deliberation, I deleted the group. In the end, I also think it was redundant. The fossil community already has a superb place to exchange fossils - this forum.  :)

When I joined it I kept being message spammed by a seller of polished minerals from India. And rarely ever saw fossils.

I have since unsubscribed from Facebook all together.

All my friends are on here anyway. :thumbsu:

Facebook is a dumpster fire. I only maintain an account because I use it to keep in touch with a few stubborn old friends who won't sign up for a better social media like Mastodon.

Yeah, I agree - most of my fossil friends are here and you can't beat the discussions here. Most of the fossils on FB are fake or misrepresented anyway.
