Hello everyone, I have been posting in the South Carolina forum, but I have been made aware of this specific section of the forum for sharing trip photographs/finds. I will repost previous trips and continue to upload new trips to this thread; I try to go out and hunt every weekend! I am a novel fossil hunter, but it has quickly become my favourite hobby and quite the obsession! I live in Charleston, SC and I scout several sites every few weeks. Here are some of my exciting finds! I hope you all enjoy my trip reports

The Charleston area is a great area for finding teeth, and it looks like you are off to a great start. Looking forward to your future trip reports.

Pretty darn good start for a "beginner." You've got some nice teeth there. Look forward to seeing what else you come up with.

Nice finds! Always wished I had been into "hunting" prior to my mother-in-law moving up here from South Carolina. Keep up the good work.

Does anyone have any idea as to what this fossil bone is/apart of? It's quite large

  • 3 weeks later...

Last few weeks of hunting. Any idea as to what species that molar belongs to? I believe it would be mammal but I am not well versed yet in identifying. Enjoy!

Wow, some great hunting grounds you have up there! That's a great start : )

Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there!

Excellent finds. That is a good sized angustidens. You may want to take several different pics of the molar, including the chewing surface and post it in the fossil ID forum.

Nice finds. Nice cabinet.

It really makes a great hobby when you have a display of self found specimens. ...keeps the enthusiasm going ( for decades!). I can look at specimens in my cabinets and still experience a bit of the rush I felt when I first found them.

Nice finds, thanks for sharing them, you have embarked on a fascinating hobby that will give you decades of enjoyment.

I agree with Canadawest, rediscovering fossils in your display case brings back all the memory's of finding it and prepping it (if needed)

Regards

Mike

A new site I have found. Some close ups of the beautiful colours that I am finding. C. angustidens, hemipristis, odontocete teeth, three-toed horse teeth and tapir molar crown.

You are finding some great stuff to be new! I'm new also, but a couple of hours from Charleston. Any tips on how to find good sites? I can't really scout locations from so far away, but I'm looking to get down that way soon for a couple of days.
