belemniten
I want to share my fossils from a one week tour with you. I was in Cadzand (Netherlands), in Hoevenen (Antwerpen), in Barvaux and also in Eckelsheim (Germany). The most time i was on the beaches in Cadzand. Its just wonderful there and i dont spend my whole time to look for fossils On the beaches near Cadzand i didnt found that much as last year, but i think its still a nice haul. I found many bivalves, some fish vertebra, Gastropods, Balanus sp. and also many bones .... Bivalves: They are very common on some beaches, so i collect only the nicest ones: Glycymeris obovata: Megacardita (Venericor) planicosta: I found also some Pecten (Plural of Pecte ?) Balanus sp.: This fossil is also very common in Cadzand. So here are the best two: Trivia sp. On of my personal favourites are the Trivia sp. Too bad that they are very rare there .... This are all: Detailed: Edited May 24, 2016 by belemniten
belemniten
I found also this crab claw: Maybe fossil ? Fish vertebra: Also not often to find are fish vertebra. I had a little bit luck and found about 15 complete specimens: Edited May 25, 2016 by belemniten
belemniten
Ray teeth: Its hard to find a complete one, so i only find some broken .... Here is one example: Myliobatis sp. Bones: With this fossils i had really luck. I didnt tought that i would find so many bones. This are some broken and unidentified pieces: The better finds: Possible rib: (15 cm long) Bovid (cow) proximal phalanx: (ca. 8 cm long)
belemniten
Until know not identified: (9 cm long) Vertebra: (7 cm long)
belemniten
Then my finds from Hoevenen. This was one of the highlight .... I never found any shark teeth before and there i found about 150 nearly complete specimens and even more incomplete shark teeth. Besides the shark teeth i also found ray teeth, dolphin teeth and fish teeth..... Here i already post them: http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/65391-shark-teeth-id/ But i want to post my best ones here: Galeocerdo aduncus Notorynchus cepedianus Notorynchus cepedianus Notorynchus cepedianus Carcharias acutissimus Isurus oxyrinchus Edited May 24, 2016 by belemniten
sixgill pete
I too really lik the Trivia sp. They are some of the coolest gastropods. I believe Cadzand is Miocene / Pliocene? We have a similar Trivia found in the Pleistocene of North Carolina that is ID'd as Pusula floridana. One of my favorites.

belemniten
Then my finds from Barvaux: I was there a half day on 4 different locations. The last one was a huge construction site, where i found the most brachiopods..... (Thanks Kevin! ) Here are "some" Brachiopods: They are all Cyrtospirifer verneuili. More pictures of the best specimens: (My biggest one) I also like them, when they are still on Matrix: The last one i want to show is also Cyrtospirifer verneuili, but weathered. On the bright side you can see the spiral shaped lophophores of the spirifer ( that is where the name spirifer comes from , “spiral”shaped lophophores.) Then i also found some corals: Edited May 25, 2016 by belemniten

sixgill pete
Interesting ! Would be great to hunt there .... I would love to be able to go into the mine once again. The spoil piles are also not the same i quantity and especially quality and variety as they once were. I have several more of the P. floridana but the two pictures are my best examples. Yours are so very similar, makes me wonder if they are the same species.
