Big Brook, NJ Crocodile? Mosasaur?

Hello,

I would appreciate some help identifying this tooth from the cretaceous fossil beds of Big Brook, NJ. The tooth appears to be reptilian, I would assume crocodile or mosasaur (but seems too small). The cross section is almost circular and there are distinct carinae on both edges (180 degrees apart).

Thanks!

It appears to be a internal chamber mold of a Belemnite........And Welcome to the forum.

I believe it is called a phragmocone. The preservation on this one looks pretty different than most of mine but it definitely does look like one.

Thanks! I didn't know about this part of the belemnite but it's quite clear to me now.
