Montrosaur
Hi all! I have a fairly small shark tooth I'm trying to ID. I've looked at several different ID charts and this is the only one I'm not too sure about. It's not the find of the century but inquiring minds want to know lol. Any help is greatly appreciated! The tooth I need to ID is the one right next to the dime in the pic. Edited June 6, 2016 by Montrosaur
sixgill pete
It is a pretty worn tooth and the pic is blurry. Assuming it came from Florida, I would say it is either Carcharhinus obscurus or C. leucas. Either a dusky or bull shark. Montrosaur
Thanks so much for the quick reply. Sorry about the pic. Had some trouble getting it to focus. Yes we found it at Caspersen beach in FL. Edited June 6, 2016 by Montrosaur
Rustdee
I agree with sixgill. Looks like a broken and water worn dusky or bull. Also that creme colored tooth is very nice looking.
Montrosaur
Thanks Rustdee! Funny thing is I almost overlooked the creme colored tooth. It just happened to be stuck to another tooth with a few drops of water. I'm hoping to go out again after this tropical storm passes in hopes that it will stir things up a bit out there.
