Burpee Museum of Natural History, Rockford Illinois

Wish I had remembered about this museum earlier. I'm up in the Chicago area at the moment and getting in a little fossil hunting while I'm here. Was just out in that area checking out a road cut in Byron (very sparse fossil material there--just a few internal molds of gastropod shells). I'll likely not head back to that road cut but I should make a note to make a special trip to the Burpee Museum next time I'm in town.

Great gallery with lots of interesting pictures.

Cheers.

The Burpee museum is great! I get up there a few times a year. With there large collection of IL fossils it always jazzes me up after going there to get out and get collecting! I like walking through their Carboniferous forest too. And of course there Mazon Creek stuff is neat.
