I have a feeling this is modern. Its heavy, but doesn't feel rock solid. In any case, anyone have any idea what it belongs to?

Zachster

It looks like a hinge for an elbow for a fore arm. But for a 4 legged animal it would probably be a front leg equivalent.

This looks like a deer bone - most likely recent.

Doesn't take long in the creeks to turn that brown color.

Sorry, I'm not good with bone names/anatomy.

Metatarsal/metacarpal?

Regards,

So what are the opinions about the break? It looks like a fracture after fossilization, rather than of green bone. But I'm not a bone person, so what are the opinions out there?

Tim got the ID right to the animal, Zachster got the bone right. It's the distal end of a deer humerus.
