Untitled
Hey everybody, just joined!!! So, I've got a question: my current largest meg tooth, which was purchased a few years back, has this peculiar seem on the back of it's root, going straight down. It was lined with some white substance, which came off with a tooth brush and warm water, but I'm wondering if it's at all repaired. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! snolly50
It seems to me that your seam is just fine. That looks like a nice tooth - enjoy. mrieder79
If it has been repaired, they did a very good job. It's possible that the seam is a crack that extended from the root into the enamel without actually breaking the tooth. They may have put some bonding in there to prevent the crack from worsening. Post a close up of the enamel on front and back and we can take a closer look. From what you have posted, though, things look good. Nice tooth, by the way. How big is it? 1 Luck is the most important skill of a fossil diver.

I'll post a close-up tomorrow morning. Sadly, it's only around 4 3/4". Looking to purchase a 5+" in the not too distant future, though . mrieder79
yeah. I think the line you saw is a little crack that did not extend through the whole tooth. I cant see any repair signs further up the blade. 4 3/4 is still a sweet tooth. Luck is the most important skill of a fossil diver.

Much happier with the tooth now, considering that it isn't a repaired piece

sixgill pete
I agree that it is not repaired. In many locations a 4 3/4 tooth is ginormous. Nothing wrong with one that size at all.
