old dead things
Being part Scandinavian and have eaten lutefisk I can tell you it tastes a lot like it is 49-54 million years old. There have been a number of threads recently about prepping Green River fossil fish, and just about the time you feel really good about your prep, try a juvenile. I have hundreds of juveniles. The wife use to make pendants, but since her passing, I can't seem to get the knack. So after collecting one or two of each, what to do with the rest of them. Remember now that I'm the guy that brought you fried Green River fossil fish, and the pickled herring idea has been floating around in my mind for some time. Long story short, this is going to be a long learning process, but wanted to show my first attempt and hopefully this will evolve into a good project. the tools I can see I need different jars pickled fish Jim Old Dead Things

old dead things
Wow, sure thought I'd get some feedback on the juveniles. I'm already looking for different jars, and a different way to cut the fish and gluing too, basically the only thing I'm can keep the same is the idea. Any suggestions? Fossildude19
I think it's a great idea, Jim. I think different jars might make a difference. Pagurus
... I'm already looking for different jars, and a different way to cut the fish and gluing too, basically the only thing I'm can keep the same is the idea. Any suggestions? I love your pickled herring idea! My grandfather pretty much lived on the stuff till he was 95. One summer in Maine I worked in a sardine cannery, cleaning the cooking racks and sweeping the fish guts into a hole in the floor where they would drop down into the ocean. (Great flounder fishing off those docks). Most of the fish at that factory were herring too big to fit in the sardine cans so they were cut up into pieces that fit. Your idea gave me another idea for displaying your juvenile fish. I tried it with one of mine: Good luck with your project, it's a great idea. I agree that another type of jar might help too. Good luck! Mike Edited June 24, 2016 by Pagurus 1 Start the day with a smile and get it over with.
