It might be hard to see from the pic.

But looking at the calamite fossil I found, it appears that it had many layers of bark.

It almost seems like it had many layers of skin like onion.

I know these tree would get up to 100 feets or so.

I was wondering if anybody knew if it had diffrent layers of bark?

This isn't bark, per se, but layers of herbaceous vascular tissue. Calamites were large versions of modern horsetails, which do not have anything akin to bark, but are herbaceous plants.

Here is a cross-section of an Equisetum stem - notice the concentric rings of vascular bundles. Calamites would be similar, but on a much larger scale:

Digitized? I have a hard-copy but would be interested in a pdf.

Searching for green in the dark grey.
