Plantguy
Oh heck....they are very very cool! I know cutting them would probably show some crazy fantastic internal structure but I'd leave em alone... Thanks for showing us! Regards, Chris

RJB
I bought these about 15/16 years ago. Back then everyone was slicing them open and polishing. Now after reading all your post, it seems that fossil pine cone attitudes have changed. So glad I kept them intact. RB

PRK
Hi ron yes, you are correct, to a point !! Back about the turn of this century I did some work for Luis and Ana. Instead of payment In cash, they paid me with a large, fat, Araucaria cone. After a couple years of enjoying the full cone, ( and yes, they are beautiful as compleats ), l couldn't stand it any longer and cut it in half. I couldn't resist the thought of that beautiful and intricate internal starburst pattern I'm soo,ooo happy I did Edited July 5, 2016 by PRK
Mexx
I don't think the attitude has changed, most of the cones are still cut and polished and rightfully so. I haven't seen many cones where the exterior was nicer than the interior but if the exterior is complete I also would not cut it.

RJB
Hey Mexx, I like your explination. I just found the rest of my cones and one is really not too good on the exterior. I just may take that one to a fiend of mine who has all the saws and stuff for polishing. Could be very interesting for sure. RB
