Dutch cretaceous finds

Hey all,

I'd like to share om the finds of this year excursions to the quarry's 't Rooth and the ENCI. These are all late cretaceous, Maastrichtian finds. At one of the ENCI excursions i found a little jaw in the first stone i turned aside. It is probably a lower jaw of a sea turtle though this isn't confirmed yet. Suggestions to what it might be are of course welcome :P

In the other quarry 't Rooth, the first excursion of this year was organized last Saturday. After wandering around a bit i found a little horizont with my friend Erik and we explored some of the stones finding mostly shells, bryozoa and some Serpuliden (i hope i wrote this correctly). Not so interesting until i stumbled on a little fish jaw. From this point on it got interesting as we found also some crab remains, teeth (shark and fish) and another fish jaw. When i got home i cleaned the fish jaw up and this is one is one of the nicest fish jaws in my collection. So this was a great day. the 30th of July we got our next excursion i can't wait :D

Any idea of the layer you''re working on?

These finds are all from the Emael member.
