Spent a couple of early morning hours on Post Oak Creek this morning trying to beat the heat. We had a little rain the other night so I figured I would give it a shot. Someone posted a couple of weeks ago about snakes but I can tell you I saw less than usual, zero to be exact. The bigger issue is finding access. The usual spot was grown over and the only option was to go down on your rear which doesn't bother me much but once I slid down the challenge was to find a way up the slippery clay but that was something to worry about later. There was an abundance of teeth. There were tons of small foot prints that looked fresh so someone must have been out there yesterday after the Saturday night showers. They must have found the good ones but I did get a good haul of broken teeth with a couple of complete teeth for the display jars. Found a few bone fragments, a partial lobster, three gastropods and a nice bottle.

Any ideas on this?? At first I thought it was a sawfish rostral but not sure. Doesn't look like any others I have found.

Some nice teeth congrat. Could your last specimen be a coprolite? If it's flat I would lean toward a rostral.

Yes, I did post the warning about the snakes. After discussing it with the firemen who went to rescue the couple I will tell you that they were shocked at how many snakes there were around the couple as well, and found it hard to believe that people were finding my post that unrealistic. I will also tell you that the couple was in an area that has quite a bit of water as I have been through there before and there a lot of rocks so maybe that had something to do with it. With that said, I'm glad you didn't see any snakes. I've encountered less than a dozen or so in all my hunting trips in the creek, but again that was not the point of my post.

Always footprints as people like to be the first ones there in the creek. I drive by it numerous times throughout the day and I always get a kick at those that are there trying to beat everyone else :). I don't think that's a rostral.

I thought this was an unusual example of a Squalicorax.

I believe this is a Squalicorax falcatus. very nice tooth.

Definately not questioning the snakes. I have seen many there before and can tell you that I was on the look out this go around because of your post. Can never be too safe. Almost needed your fire department to get out today. Not sure it is a rostral either, I am just confused about what it may be or just a funky rock. I am posting a couple of more pictures.

Even though there were footprints you had great day of specimens. Awesome! The Ptychodus is splendid.
