Pit stop in Central Texas

Had to work a couple of days in San Antonio and decided to take my time getting back to Dallas. I am not in that area near as often as I was a couple of years ago so I need to take advantage of any time passing through. Found an exposure behind a parking lot that looked promising and went to work. My main objective was to find something new. There was an abundance of shells and gastropods but my objective was urchins. It was 103 degrees out so I planned on only staying for an hour if I could handle that. I was rewarded with a single Echinoid. I believe it is Loriolia?? The heat got to me quick and I moved on but I think it is a nice one.

I then headed to another spot I used to find some river worn heart urchins so I spent a half hour there and found two. One is collapsed and very cool looking, the other badly River worn. I am always happy to find anything and for a quick hour and a half plus the time I was flayed in Austin by traffic, I am pleased with the results.

You did well for a quick stop. :) I would agree with Loriolia sp.

Very nice sharko. The Loriolia sp. is very cool looking. First time I have seen one I believe.

Bulldozers and dirt Bulldozers and dirt
behind the trailer, my desert
Them red clay piles are heaven on earth
I get my rocks off, bulldozers and dirt

Thank you. I always go into these pit stops with low expectations and if I find anything, I am happy. I am sure Loriola sp. is very common but it was a first for me and I was extremely excited to find it. I will be back later in the month and am hoping to find a way to a road cut in the Austin area though I am not one to play in traffic. Edited by sharko69
