Megalodon Confirmation

Recommended Posts

So, I'm new to this fossil forum as a user but I have looked around on here a lot for help with IDing fossils.
I have been browsing online looking for a nice unrepaired megalodon shark tooth that is over the 6" range. I came across this one here, it seems to be very affordable and the seller claims that it is unrepaired, but to me the root of the tooth looks very fishy, I'd like some people's opinions before I decide on making the purchase or not.

I am not seeing anything out of the ordinary there. The roots on those teeth often will have cracks in them, which may make some seem odd, but it is normal. This tooth looks like it was found in an underwater environment and has seen a bit of wear due to that.

Looks real to me.

I get my rocks off, bulldozers and dirt

I like it. It has "issues," but repairs do not appear to be among them. From the photos alone I do not see a cause for alarm. A nice ocean worn tooth, for me the decision to buy would reside with the asking price.

That seller is a friend of mine, if he says it's natural, its natural. he dives for them himself.
