Cretaceous Clavicle Bone?

The Jersey Devil

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

this find is from the Late Cretaceous of NJ. It is about 1.5 inches long and closely resembles a clavicle. It is not that heavy though so I am not sure if it has been mineralized. It could possibly be from a modern animal. Thanks for the help.

The only thing is is that it is much lighter than most stones...

There might be all sorts of reasons for its low specific gravity.

I agree with those above me:no condyles, foramina, lacunae, porosity,or other indications that it is osteological("bone")

Doesn't have bone texture, in my opinion.

Could be a deposit of ash or siltstone.
