Dinosaur egg? Species? Just curious.

Egg came from China (unfortunately I don't have a specific area). It came from the Cretaceous time period. Dimensions (Length x Width x height) The fossil is 12cm (~5in) x 10cm (~4in) x 10cm and weighs 2.5kg. I'm not sure what kind of species this came from however I'm curious if anyone can tell me from the pictures. Either way I'm glad I have a fossil egg of some kind even though I may not know what species it is. (I'm also I little worried that it may not be an egg at all as people do mistake fossil eggs quite commonly. However I can get a full refund so no worries).

Hooboy. I just hope it's genuine and, if not, that you can get your money back.

Looks egg shape but has no resemblance to what typically comes out of China as a dinosaur egg. We look for eggshell material a few millimeters thick which is not present in your specimen. Forgot to add fake

Starting to hope myself. As for money I can get a full refund so no worries there.

Thank you all for figuring out it's a fake. I will get a full refund on the fossil as it's definitely fake from what You all showed me.

Like you did on the dino claw don't hesitate to ask forum members on their opinion on an item you're interested in, before you buy.

To be fair I bought this item before I even knew of this forum. Definitely something I'm going to do like I did with the fossil claw.

(Most of the fossils I actually have been posting were bought before I knew of this forum actually)

Welcome to the forum! I agree with above that your egg isn't a real egg.

I think Troodon was just reminding you and everyone else that it's important to post before you make your next purchase! It's important to use the forum for help and guidance. It is the best tool I've used since I've started collecting :).

I saw this one for sale. Sorry it's not real.

It's fine as the seller agreed to give me a refund for the item and I can always go to PayPal to get a refund for counterfeit/fake items if I don't receive it. From now on I will send pictures of the fossils in questions to avoid this dilemma.

More specifically a septarian nodule with agate ... ? Poorly polished.

I'd like to reiterate how thankful I am for all of you helping me with all of my various fossils that I bought before getting on this site. I got a full refund on the "egg" and have already learned a lot from everyone here. Thank you all very much.

These "eggs" can be found in Singapore mineral shops, and are sometimes sold as "dragon eggs".

Problem is, they are not even a naturally occurring mineral. I saw a clip of these curios being made in Chinese factories in a process involving acid.

Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!

Yeah I saw that and I was very angry with that since I directly pointed out to them it was fake, hoping that perhaps they would change their mind about selling it. They didn't so, like any other good samaritan would have done I reported it to eBay under counterfeit/fake items as well as under false description.
