Lingulella bedding plane Cambrian Wales

I've been sorting out my old collection and came across this, a slab of Lingulella davisii (M'Coy) from North Wales, near Porthmadog.

It's from the Ffestiniog Formation, near the top of the Cambrian.

I'm sure there's lots of it around but there don't seem to be many pics when I search, apart from in this paper:

Wow. That's a great slab. I've never see Lingula brachs in that type of group preservation. Also appreciate the posting of the publications. Interesting read.

We have a lot of Cambrian rock but, despite this, brachiopods are somewhat sparse in comparison to trilobites, sponges etc. I've never found more than one Lingula on a rock surface. Another inarticulate brach, the Orbiculoid group, are found more often in our Cambian but still not common.

Gosh, that's an amazing piece.

I have a single specimen, but like some other folk, I have never seen so many together on a bedding plane. :b_love1:

@Tidgy's Dad Thanks, Adam. It's nice when old posts get revived.

I've been paying more attention to brachiopods lately, especially my local Carboniferous ones. I must ask you about some of them. :brach2::Spirferid::)

That is a spectacular plate!! My Lingulella are always found as individuals. Thanks @Tidgy's Dad for resurrecting a topic I had missed.

Please do.

But it's often pretty difficult, a lot of those productids and spiriferids are rather similar.
