zschagrin
Hi all, I recently inherited this trilobite fossil and I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me if it is real or a cast. I have no idea how to tell if it's real or not. Also, whether it is a real or not, I was wondering if anyone might be able to identify the trilobite. I'm inclined to assume its Cambrian age, but could be wrong, obviously. Also, some tips on how you know if it's real or a cast would be very helpful! Thanks for any help! jhw
Cambrian age is correct. This is an Andalusiana from Morocco. Probably some part of it is probably real, but these are usually always heavily restored.
Troodon
No detail, think most of it is fake with a few real bits. https://www.paleodirect.com/fake-trilobites-how-to-identify/ Hard copy if link is lost www.paleodirect.com/fake-trilobites-how-to-identify/

sseth
Looks like there are some real bits but most has been restored. I have attached a pic with what I think are the real bits. 1 _____________________________________ Seth www.fossilshack.com www.americanfossil.com www.fishdig.com
Malcolmt
Would agree most appears to be reconstructed but there are some real bits there.
snolly50
Excellent photos serve to make addressing your inquiry an easier task. I wish all posts had such clear multi-view shots.
