adshepard
Found a fossil combing the beach in Lubec, Maine. I search the beaches in the area all the time looking for things of interest. A few hundred yards down the beach from our home I know of a large fossil leaf on a huge boulder but that boulder is never moving so I've never collected it or any other fossil in the area. Old U.S. Geological texts state that there are fossils in the area. This past weekend I actually found something that I could collect and it was just up the beach from my summer home. Being a scuba diver/ underwater photographer I knew exactly what this was. I'm fairly certain it's a trace fossil of a starfish. The area was covered by glaciers and most rocks a e smoothed over so I'm amazed this survived. Alan
