Collected a few specimen's, but thought this was the greatest sitting right on the ground when I got out of the car.....About the size of a Quarter.

That was a lucky and very convenient find....Didn't have to much to do other then to just step out of the car...I wish it was that easy all the time.....:)

Very nice! A fossil mimicking a geode :D

Apart from the beauty of the encrusted calcite(?), it is in remarkable condition the way the rest of the specimen has worn out while still being anchored to the rock - to such an extent it looks like it was just placed or glued on the base!

When I found it I thought the same thing how the heck did this survive like this. Maybe I'm on candid camera ;). ( If you don't know what candid camera is there is the internet ) :D

Ha ha... I can just picture stage-hands placing fossils before you arrive, Allen Funt waiting in the nearby bushes...

Congratulations Chris on an excellent find. That brach sure is a beaut. I have some like that that probably look the same inside, but I haven't got the heart to split them. Good thing Mother Nature did that for you.

Very nice. I love those bivalves that house crystals. There is a site here in North Carolina where you can sometimes find Cucullaea with crystals growing inside like that.
