Bone Collectors!!

Recommended Posts

SharkToothLover757

Today I went exploring with my mom in a few creeks here in Virginia and found 2 bones. Trying to figure out what they might be from? I normally collect Shark teeth and shell fossils and this is my first time coming across anything like these. Can anyone help?!?!

The first bone is the phalanx from a horse.

The first looks like a horse medial phalanx and the second is some sort of vertebra. Something added to your pics to provide scale would help....ruler or tape measure.

Ok.. Yes I thought about that after I had taken the pictures. It's hard to get a good pic. of the second one.. I will take a better picture tomorrow and make sure to have something to compare to! Thanks so much!

I agree with the horse toe identification.

Try to see where the midline is on that vertebra. That will allow for clearer photos and help to find out what animal it is.
