ffemtb1
After some thought Ive decided to do a trip tomorrow to Green Mill Run in Greenville, NC. I think conditions will be fine until about 5 or 6 PM. I plan on starting early, so anyone interested in joining up let me know. I plan on starting about 7:45am. And working 2 favorite spots of mine. sixgill pete
I would highly recommend against this trip. The hurricane warnings have now moved farther north to Surf City NC. Pitt County (where Greenville is located) is under a tropical storm warning AND a flood warning. (a warning not a watch) Please take this seriously for yourself and your family. I live less than an hour south of Greenville as the crow flies. I have had 2 inches of rain today so far. The heavy rain is expected to move in overnight and last throughout tomorrow with winds in the 35 to 505 mph range. I know the forecast is different for the Elizabeth City area as they are saying this storm is going to turn. But then yesterday were only going to get 2-4 inches of rain here. Now it i 10-15. ffemtb1
I hope it hold off till the afternoon. Tar river isnt expected to reach flood threshold until midnight tomorrow. If the rain holds out some or is light, creek should hopefully be ok. Im still going to take a ride bust or not. Its a short ride.
sixgill pete
The worst weather is expected late tomorrow and tomorrow night. Remember GMR is an urban stream and rises extremely fast. It also will reach flood levels well before the Tar. No fossil is worth your life. RickNC
I wouldn't advise that. It is probably too high right now let alone tomorrow.
Rustdee
I've been in GMR quite a few times where a summer thunderstorm comes through and the creek rises about a foot within a 30 minute time span. It does rise extremely quickly.
