help with fossil ID

trying to find out what this fossil is, sorry, i have no information on it whatsoever, any help will be greatly appreciated

I'm going to put my money on Stigmaria, and then mossey on over to see if the buffet has been set up yet, this early in the morning.

I agree that looks like a root system. Stigmaria was also my first thought, but I'm not sure about the spiraling character of the scars. I could see it, also, as a crinoid holdfast, if the geological time permits.
