It's not a problem with the picture, by any means. :)

There is matrix covering any siphuncle that might otherwise be visible.

I think this maybe a case for a picture of the piece when wet. (Sometimes this will help to bring out some details.)

PS Usually I abhor a wet fossil in a picture.

I agree, you sometimes see more fine détails, but it musn't be excessively wet. You could wet it with a tooth brush and then dry out the water in excess.
