First Ebay Acquisition

Recommended Posts

I was very happy to have my first ebay bid won and this plate was what I got. :D I've always wanted some fossils from the Lake Simcoe area but I never had the capacity to travel outside that far out of Toronto. Apparently there are two types of cystoids on this plate. This plate comes from the Upper Bobcaygeon formation, Ordovician period from Simcoe County, Ontario.2016-11-18_12-41-53.jpg

It's a very different fauna from what can be found here in the bedrock of Toronto. Cystoids don't occur in the Georgian Bay formation.

Paying for this plate took a bit of a hit on my wallet but I think I think it's worth it considering that I don't have anything like this in my collection.

Great purchase .... I can see why you were tempted into buying it.

Be happy while you're living for you're a long time dead.

I hunt the same quarry with the seller of that plate. You really should try to get up there sometime, it's a fossil collectors wonderland

There's no limit to what you can accomplish when you're supposed to be doing something else

Thanks everyone.

@Northern Sharks I forgot to ask the seller what quarry this comes from. Can you tell me what the name of the quarry is?

What a remarkable piece! Great buy!

Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!

You couldn't resist buying something finally, could ya?

I've been eyeing those for a while too but the $ figure is always a little out of reach.

The first thread I read through in this section and it's by somebody local! Very cool!!

I live in Toronto as well and have quite the fossil collection on the go! I go out to several areas collecting when I have time but it stinks we've got such a short warm season.

@Prehistoria Two days after I made my order the fossil arrived at my local Canada Post. The package went to Toronto quite fast.

Wow I'm in love with this plate. Verrrrrry nice, but most of the beauty come from the rarity of these echinoderms. Their living mode should have been so interesting. I especially appreciate uncommon or less known fossils. Thanks for sharing.

Now that is a VERY nice plate! I've been to JD quarry in Gamebridge several times, but I'm still just dreaming about finding something like that. That's the quarry that Northern Sharks mentioned.
