Our conversation while showing my daughter a couple of my shark teeth.

Dad: these teeth are from a giant shark, as big as your school bus!

Daughter: wow dad, that's pretty big!

Dad: I wonder what such a big shark would eat?

Daughter: probly chicken

Also, a good sized great white tooth for scale and perspective.

Awesome finds. I just ordered one off of Ebay for my Christmas present since I doubt I'll ever find the time to go deep sea diving for them. :meg:

You dont have to dive to find them. There are places within a few hours of D.C. where they can be found.

I get my rocks off, bulldozers and dirt

I've been to Calvert Cliffs more times than I can remember and have only found small fragments, but have found a plethora of other teeth. Where are you finding these megs? North Carolina I suppose. That's more than a few hours from D.C.

I don't know if you will find a meg tooth as big as the one in this post, but if you search The Fossil Forum (in the search bar at the top of the page) for  - Calvert Cliffs megalodon - you will find lots of wonderful megalodon teeth found by TFF members at the cliffs. Here's one, for example : link

Alright so these are still rare finds, much rarer IMHO than anything that can be found in the Carolina's. Stephen Godfrey the Curator of the Calvert Cliffs Marine Museum said in a National Geographic documentary that he's only found one nice Megalodon tooth in the entire ten years he's searched for one and he ended up finding it during the filming of the documentary.
