Scute or nodule?

I couldn't quite tell if this was a croc scute or a nodule. I'm pretty heavily favoring nodule, but thought I'd check with the experts before tossing it. It was found at Ram Brook in NJ.

Looks noduley to me. But I agree that it has a scute look a bit as well. If it's a scute it is really worn down a lot. But for a worn down scute I'd expect more internal structure that I'm not seeing here.

I see the "scutyness" of this thing. Look at the edges and see if there is any lamellation or bone like texture. If the surface on the edge looks the same as the surface presented, then concretion it is. Those New Jersey concretions really are good fossil mimics.
