digit
Could you take this one outside into bright light and take a clearer photo? It's a killer looking tooth and a sharper photo would help us to assign a possibly identity. I bet that was the trip-maker find of the day--would be in my book. Cheers. -Ken
Al Dente
It looks like a whale tooth but clearer pictures are needed to be positive.
digit
Yup. My thoughts but a focused photo would be helpful. Cheers. -Ken
jcbshark
Looks like whale to me by the pics provided as well and boy is it a nice one! Congrats Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there!

sixgill pete
It is possible the tooth could be something besides whale, even possibly something more elusive. Better in focus pictures would be a big help. Especially pictures of the tooth crown from differentr angle and of the cutting edge. Please refer to this posting that is pinned in the I.D. section. digit
Whale was my first guess but, as you say, there are other very interesting alternatives. That's why I asked for a sharper photo. A close-up of just the enameled part would also be helpful. No matter what the proper ID--one thing is for certain: killer tooth! Cheers. -Ken

Boesse
Almost certainly a physeteroid sperm whale.
digit
I don't think you find many (if any) who will question Boesse on this subject matter. Really sweet tooth. Would love to see a well focused photo anyway just to see it in all its glory. Cheers. -Ken

ynot
Looks like a sperm whale tooth. Location may change that opinion. Tony Darwin said: " Man sprang from monkeys." Fossildude19
Brightened and cropped your pics a bit. Also, I merged your new post with the older one. Better to keep them together, for continuity's sake.
