cowgirlfossils Posted December 12, 2016 Share Posted December 12, 2016 Hello all! It's been awhile. This bird bone was sticking out about 4" from the sand layer. They are getting so deep in the pit they are kind of past the fossil layer. This one must of washed down with the sand. So...figure Pliocene/Pleistocene..North East Simi Valley. Bird, but a big one! Max-fossils Posted December 13, 2016 Share Posted December 13, 2016 I don't know what it is, but it sure comes from a very big bird! Probably a predatory bird, or something like an emu. Pelican is also a possibility. Where there is course sand, usually orange/yellow, the fossils take on that color. 99% of my bird bones are white. Maybe Auspex will chime in. Thank Max.. Stay tuned....
