belemniten
Good idea and some great photos and fossils here ! I extremely love your mammoth tooth digit ! I cant decide among this three teeth, which i found this year in the quarry Kromer in Holzmaden. So i am not a long time collector ... accordingly no spectacular finds, but rare finds. The first one is a 2.3 cm long Steneosaurus tooth. One of my first tooth from Holzmaden and one of my biggest ... Then the second one is a well preserved Ichtyosaurus tooth with a length 1.2 cm. And last but not least this part of a fish jaw (maybe Dapedium). The whole jaw is 1.3 cm long and the biggest tooth 0.6 cm long: Many greetings from Germany ! Have a great time with many fossils Regards Sebastian

jpc
OK. Here is one of my favorties. But asking for favorite fossils is like asking a Deadhead his/her favorite Grateful Dead song... there are so many good ones, and the fave can change daily. In any case, this is a partial skeleton of a White River mammal most folks have never heard of...Epoicotherium. (and I happen to have pox available). As far as I know, this is the 4th specimen. It is a small burrowing mammal related to another White River beastie no one has ever heard of, and the second most famous whose name starts with an X... Xenocranium. I am pretty sure I have posted it here before, but heck... The labels are as such: A.. skiull B and C... hunerus. I don't have the thing in fornt of me, so I can't tell you more at this junctiure C.. neck verts. There are three or four fused cervical verts, seen out of focus on the first photo. D.. acromion process f scapula...this is huge... good sign of a fossorial beast. E... glenoid fossa of the scapula... where the humerus attaches. F...blade of scapula Found and prepped by me. What makes this special for me is that this is the only mako I have ever found with cusps. They are very tiny but definitely there. Actually one side has double cusps. I hope I can get a good enough pic for you guys to see. Neat and nice teeth ! "On ne voit bien que par le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." All the bones are from the North Sea. Only the skull is a replica. This photo is a little older, I do also have one of the shoulder blades now. Currently I have almost 90 bones. Wow ! This is probably my largest and most impressive find taken back in May of 2015 on a trip with John (Sacha) to the Peace River. I recounted that trip last year on this forum and even managed to win a VFOTM for this find. It remains the largest and probably most impressive find in my collection. I'd found tiny chips and even some larger chunks containing multiple enamel plates but this was my first (do date) complete Columbian Mammoth (Mammuthus columbi) molar. My "favorite" fossil is the next one that I find but this one was a real hoot! Cheers. -Ken Impressive, that's the word ! "On ne voit bien que par le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." Darktooth
My favorite fossils are ones that tend to have a chararecteristic about them that makes them different from the norm. So here is a common stingray plate, of which I have found thousands. But what makes this one special is the color. Smooth side is cream colored and if you hold it up to the light it is slightly translucent. I found it at Brownies Beach and is the only one like it I have found. I like Trilo-butts and I cannot lie.
