It really looks like a bone but id like to know what animal the bone came from.  Found it along the beach in Florida. About the size of a quarter.

That is a turtle neural from the carapace. You can see a bit of the "spine" present.

Im having an issue finding a turtle whos shell has the shape my does. Im seeing a lot at the spine go out at the sides and in at the corners unlike my piece that is out at the corners and comes in on the sides.

Not sure what species of turtle were around when this fossil was from.

Neurals can range a bit in shape and size. ;)

This is just a fragment of the carapace; not the entire shape of the turtle.  ;)

I know that. I would imagine that it is a neural because of its spiney ridge on the underside. i tried comparing neurals of different Florida sea turtles and non seem to fit. I was thinking it was from an Olive Ridley sea turtle which are a little more south in the Atlantic. maybe the current brought it up? maybe its old and the range once included floridas gulf coast?

It's possible that it is a fossil and looking at extant species will not turn up a 'match'.  It's hard to tell much from the small photo, and the piece may also be eroded to the point of erasing any definitive detail.

Maybe it's a tortoise carapace neural plate (n6).

I thought tortoise are land animals? I found this on the beach

But was it a beach 3 or 4 million + years ago?
