AshHendrick
I FINALLY found one heck of a Meg!! I wrote in great detail on my blog, so for those who just want photos without a good long story, you can get that here. If you want the full detailed scoop of my day, check out my post : and a lovely great white! 2.75 inches! I personally would like to thank the following people for making this moment possible! 1. Rick - mostly thankful for you not hitting me in the head with a shovel and running off with it... lol and to have someone there so I didn't seem like a psycho talking to myself with such excitement in the creek alone. 2. City of Greenville for contracting people to remove some trees/debris at GMR 3. Kirk, for in his post he said: " No, I left it there for someone else to find. Already have several in my collection " - takes a real good man to leave that behind - humble you are, good sir!
sixgill pete
Ash, thats a really nice meg for GMR. It was so nice of Kirk to leave it for you. Rick sent me a picture of it shortly after you found it, I was happy as you all were. First nice big meg I have seen come out of there in a few years. AshHendrick
Thanks, SixGill, was so amazing for sure! LOL poor kirk is going to get bitter soon haha! and Sorzano, it's one of the easiest places to get to - I meet random people from all over the country, especially in the summer time or around the aurora fossil festival! BUT your more likely to find those amazing great whites than a meg - that's one of one megs in 3 years and 1 of 20ish nearly/perfect great whites i've personally found to give an idea. We should ask them to create a forum for long distance fossil hunting trips where members can offer to host/couch surf type scenario - trade off places to stay and hunt to cut down on costs b/c I'd be going all over more if it wasn't for how expensive travel can be, haha! RickNC
Really exceptional meg for that location. If I hadn't been there I am not sure I would believe it was found the way it was. We saw that thing from 20' away at least.
mrieder79
That's a pretty exceptional meg for anywhere! I can't tell from the pics, but it looks like it's peeking at 6" ETA: Just read your blog. What a great story. Finding a monster like that in a shallow creek must feel amazing. Congrats. Luck is the most important skill of a fossil diver.

FossilGuy1024
Oh Santa, what big teeth you've got... err... sorry, guess that's from another story. What an incredible find and with serrations intact! That's the kind of specimen that makes a collection. I haven't read your full post yet, but I'm sure you'll remember that moment forever. Congratulations
