Unknown tooth fossil

Hi All,

First post here.  I recently found this at an estate sale and have no idea what I have. It feels like a rock (petrified). It is a large tooth measuring 3 1/4" wide X 2 3/4" tall. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am not so sure this is a tooth. Could you try taking clearer pics from different angles?

I am not an expert but it doesn't seem like any tooth I have ever seen. Though it does have a suggestive shape. That being said, I don't have any ideas of what it might be. It appears in the pics almost as if the black coloration was painted on.

That's a pretty nice fossil proboscidean tooth fragment. Unfortunately, the origin in unknown.

As I said earlier I'm not an expert. That's why I love this forum. I learn something new everyday. Congratulations on your acquisition!
