I have to agree with fish on this one.

Bulldozers and dirt Bulldozers and dirt
behind the trailer, my desert
Them red clay piles are heaven on earth
I get my rocks off, bulldozers and dirt

  • 4 weeks later...

It was found on a beach in the Wando River near Charleston SC.  The oldest material we have here is late Oligocene.  Thanks!

Regards,

I agree with Fossildude - looks like a fish vert.

The articular surfaces (The "holes" or concave surfaces on the ends are usually a dead giveaway, but they are covered in marix.

The bone texture reminds me of fish bone.
