Fossil Claw
I was given this as a gift. It is tentatively identified is a dinosaur digit bone. Possible theropod. Found on a private Ranch in the Hell Creek formation area of Montana. Can anyone give me any further identification information? Thank you
Ridgehiker
It doest appear to be theropod. The ends of bones are difficult to identify in isolation. Having said that, it resembles the proximal end of a hadrosaur metacarpal.

Ridgehiker
Your photos are a bit murkey. The last 'sort of' shows the distal end for muscle attachment but might something else. In general theropod bones are thin walled (hollow) and have distinct lateral pits for strong muscle attachment. Ornithomimid metatarsals are a bit less pronounced but they taper in.
