kevinnix
hi all, any help with a rough ID would be very much appreciated, just need to know if specimens in these images are fossil coral or otherwise, species names not required. Items found near Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia. Sorry for limited photo quality. Cheers, kevin
Mike from North Queensland
Kevin Definitely fossilised coral. There is a large area of coral north of Charters Towers going towards the Burdekin River. give me a pm next time you are near Townsville and we can try to meet up. bone2stone
Impressive hunk of coral. Is it both sides or just two different specimens? First image sure would look good in someones collection. Jess B.
Rockwood
There is not enough detail to be sure, but I think I see the colonial shape of a favositid.
abyssunder
I would agree with you in the silurian-devonian carbonate platform of the region.
