transitional otodus?

hi I found this tooth on the shores of the Potomac river near popes creek, Maryland. i think its a transitional otodus but am not quite sure.

I can't help with the ID, but pictures are a bit blurry and I am sure the experts will want to see both sides!

I suspect you may have a Paleocarcharodon orientalis, which occurs in the Paleocene in that area and is fairly uncommon, especially in such good condition.

That one certainly is a Paleocarcharodon.

I certainly could have been mistaken about the previous specimen, as I have only dreamed of finding such a tooth and have never even seen one in person.

Yes, you have found a transitional tooth from the Eocene Woodstock Fm. It is a very late stage tooth from near the top of the formation. It appears to be almost fully serrated, but the pic is a bit too blurry to be sure.
