Joseph Lambert
I like Gainesville because I'm only about an hour away. But a lot of the places are picked clean. Can someone help me out and tell me how to use google maps to find remote places?
Ramon
I like to look for places that have road cuts. You can go to "street view" and find them. Road cuts have potential to be fossiliferous!!! Good luck!!! jpc
Do they have roadcuts in Florida? I imagine using goggle maps for a wooded state like Florida can be tough, since, as I understand it fossils are found in creeks and quarries.... Oh! Quarries. They have fossils in FL. Use satellite view, find a quarry near you, find out who owns it and ask permission. This last one is the toughest and often impossible part. Fossildude19
You might consider driving around Gainsville, and look for new construction. Sometimes construction sites allow brief hunting opportunities that come and go like the wind.
